Augusta Elks, ME

What a beautiful property The Elks has in Augusta, ME. High up on a hill overlooking the road below. Gorgeous lodge that looks like a winter chalet but only 2 sites with electric and no water hook-ups.
A very quaint town on the banks of the Kennebec River.

Richmond, KY

We stayed in a Walmart in Richmond, KY about 2 miles off of route 75. Great location with lots of shopping around. We visited The Dollar Store, a sporting goods store and a Hobby Lobby.

It was a chilly night, we woke up to 55 degrees inside the trailer but it warmed up quickly.

At  rest area on 75 we met up with Larry Scovuto #3451 he was on the way to Maine and Vermont.

TCPC

The TN park is very picturesque and green with lots of old trees and blooming hydrangeas but the noise killed the beauty. This is the time when all the site occupants start arriving for the season. Well, since there is NOTHING else to do in the park they break out their lawn mowers and leaf blowers. You can hear them buzzing all day long.

John and his daughter Jackie arrived with their 2 poodles Andre and Pierre just a couple of days before us. They raked and mowed for 2 days to get their little lot in pristine condition.

We also met Dick and Sandy Post from our old Tampa Bay unit. We spent a nice evening chatting about all things Airstream.

Bonnie and Bob Hermann are also owners of a site in this park.

This is a nice retreat to come to and relax but one better be stocked full with groceries and paperbacks because this is WAY out there in the middle of nothing.

Leaving Helen

Beautiful sunny day. Temps are going in to the mid-80's today. We got hot already trying to get everything packed up.

We left the Airstream park at 10:40. Drove about 3 miles and came to a sudden stop. Vov noticed an outdoor rug laying on the side of the road. Vov hiked about a 1/4 of a mile up the mountain to pick up this rug. It turned out to be perfect colors, gray and black.

Finally, we got going on our way. We made our way to Dahlonega, through Cleveland, where we got gas, along route 75 and then turned on to 52. We followed that road west for a couple of hours, through Elijay on our way to TCPC.

May 9, Thursday

We left the Lake Griffin Park at 10:35 on Thursday morning. It was a beginning of a hot sunny day but we had one thing on our mind:"Helen, GA". Hoping that it would be cooler in the Georgia mountains.

We headed North on 441 and turned on to 75 right before the town of Belleview.
Southern Trails RV Park in Georgia around exit 120 has a race horse park near the campground.

Tuesday, May 7

Cool and sunny morning, just what the doctor ordered. On our way to Lake Griffin State Park. On route 75 we drove through a cloud of love bugs. They covered our windshield, splattering with great speed as they make love, connected to each other back to back. I guess that's their doggie style.

Getting Ready for our trip.

The solar panel is on the roof. The washing machine is installed. Some of the clothes are already in the closet. Very hectic and exciting time to get ready for this summer. Five months travel to Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.
The travel guides have arrived and the kitty fees have been paid. Now the trick is to not overload the trailer and take everything I need and want.

Ellenton Gardens

Ellenton Gardens is a mostly mobile home park among many mobile home park communities. It's very well managed by a South African man and his American wife. We had lot 169 among park models and fifth wheels and trailers that are permanently parked.

The weather has been unbelievable. It has been cool in the morning and evening, in the 60's. NO humidity, very unusual for Florida in May.

The Sunday we got there we had to visit the restaurant that we have seen traveling on route 75 for the past 7 years. It is called Woody's Grill. It has a very unusual clientele of bikers and upscale hillbillies. Live music. Terrible tasting deserts and decent coffee but the location is to die for.

The next day we visited the place I have been crying about for a long time. The Ellenton Outlets. Well, what a let down. The prices are outrageous. We bought a little magnifying mirror and 2 pairs of crocs that were buy one get one 1/2 off.

Heeere we go

11:16 is the time we left the house on Sunday morning. The weather is heavenly. Light breeze, no humidity, almost don't want to leave.
But we are only going to Exit 224. Outlet shopping here we come...
Our trailer is SOOO loaded that I feel like Lucy in the movie.

Taking our new baby home

  February 4, 2013

This morning we got in our truck hooked up to our new trailer at 9:30 am. The temp outside in Lynchburg was 28 degrees.
Got to a campground just south of Florence, SC on route 95 late this afternoon.
Swamp Fox Campground  1600 Gateway Rd. Florence, SC Full hook up 19.00 per night.
Finally we hooked everything up. Our water was flowing, our heaters were pumping, after a few glitches, of course. The strainers were clogged on both sinks and water was not coming out from either faucet: bathroom or kitchen. After talking to Ron the problem was remedied.

February 5, 2013

Left cg at 9:20. Sunny 48 degrees.
Stopped for lunch in Georgia Exit 90. Kruger supermarket and gas is only a mile from 95. Also a fish store and a whole bunch of restaurants.
Stopped for the night in Jacksonville, FL at exit 366 @ Pecan Park RV Resort, next to a huge flea market by the same name. PA price was $23.73 per night.

Our New Airstream

At 3 pm we left home on our way to Lynchburg, VA to pick up our new baby home.
After a day's work we were a bit tired but too excited to let that deterr us.
At 9 pm we got to Georgia and stayed at LaQuinta hotel at Exit 3.  It was excellent. Sasha was very comfortable in a bed by herself. Total bill $90.
At 7:15 we were back on the road. At 12 noon we got off  route 95 just North of Florence SC and headed NW on route 38.
