April 25 & 26, 2011
We found an awesome campground with PA on 95 in Yemassee, SC. It is at exit 33 in South Carolina. We left St. Augustine at 10am. Arrived in Yemassee at 2:30. We stopped for gas at Exit 102 in Georgia, very easy on and off.

Beautiful sunny day. Had breakfast with the Owens. Bob & Larry had fried potatoes and onions, bacon and eggs. Debra and I had yogurt and fruit smoothies. Perfect start.
We left the fairgrounds at 10 am after dumping our waste.
The road to Yamassee, SC was pretty straight forward, North on 95. It's only half a mile from the exit.
Very pretty wooded location with very few rv's in the park. No wonder they accept PA, we paid only $19 per night.

Today we had Breakfast in a bag and of course we signed up the guys to help, they were great. I didn't care too much eating an omelet cooked in a ziplock but made an exception for today.
We skipped the Olympic games that were planned by the rally and went shopping while our rib lunch was slow cooking in the oven.
In Target we found our clock that we needed for the top of our trailer.
After lunch we drove to town to treat ourselves to some Gelato and some great people-watching tour of St. George street.
Tonight for the first night the entertainment was worth watching. It was an actor dressed and acting as Henry Flagler with a fascinating biography of his life.

Today we went to The Fountain of Youth. Debra had to stay home and work. We were driven by Larry since Bob was our chef, Larry was our driver.
The property has a prime location on the water right next to the The Mission of Nombre de Dios.
All the guides were dressed in period costumes. There was a planetarium show. Them the globe show with the Ponce de Leon voyage routes and history lesson. Then a live cannon shooting on the waterfront. Then a history lesson from an Indian from Oklahoma about life of Indians in St. Augustine. Then, of course, we got to drink the sulfur tasting water that supposedly is good for us. I didn't feel much younger.

Today we took a scenic cruise on the Matanzas river. We sailed almost to the inlet and got close to the lighthouse. I took some amazing pictures.
Our next destination was Ripley's Believe it or Not museum. We entered at no charge since it was Larry's and Debra's door prize of 6 tickets. Joan and Frank Anderson whom we met on the East Coast caravan have joined us for the museum tour.
The museum is not too big but fascinating with all kinds of weird phenomena in a beuatiful building. There is a true to size statue of David outside. Supposedly, it was made of the same stone, from the same quarry as original David.
Back home, in the trailer we had steaks cooking in the oven so we invited Frank & Joan to join us. Joan brought salad and cole slaw. We had a great lunch.
Debra & I excused ourselves after lunch and we took off for the town and went shopping until our feet ached from walking and our bellies ached from Gelato.

What a beautiful sunny day. We left Lazyday's at 8:30 am. We have approx. 180 miles to our next destination St. Johns County Fairgrounds in Elkton, FL.
Arrived at St. John's Fairgrounds at noon right behind Larry & Debra. We set up next to each other door to door. Opened our awnings to form one roof and the party began.
The following morning, April 20, we put Larry and Bob to work making pancakes for rally's pancake breakfast.
We had a private tour on the red train and went to eat at Columbia restaurant on St. Georges street. The food was so-so. Eggplant parm was frozen and re-heated in the microwave. The tomato sauce was disgusting. Bob's grouper sandwich was a little better. Their signature salad was nothing more than iceburg lettuce.
The town of St. Augustine is amazing. It's the closest thing to Europe that I've seen in this country. No wonder, the Spaniards built it.
